James had a goal since age 16 to learn Mandarin to connect with Chinese culture. He took up some self study but with no success. The knowledge he learnt from youtube or apps cannot be pieced together to build up his speaking skills. After researching about learning options in London, he chose to join Practical Mandarin, and to attend our group classes from advanced beginner course, he’s now spent 1.5 years learning to his current Intermediate level. With just 2 hours each week after work, he’s now conversationally fluent, and his reading skill is also at the top of the class.
Just like he said in the video, learning with PM includes classes and lots of immersive events. Being an active member of our community, he also makes friends with his fellow classmates and teachers. After class, he’s been invited to house dinners, and many food hunts. Oh, we have to mention that he sings Chinese songs extremely well, even though it’s a talent that he’s not sharing with a lot of people. 🙂
